On September 18-19, 2013 Personal Representative of the OSCE`s Chairperson-in-Office Ambassador Tetiana Izhevska paid a visit to Greece in the joint visit of three personal representatives of the OSCE`s Chairperson-in-Office on combating discrimination, racism, xenophobia and tolerance.
On September 18 Ambassador T.Izhevska met with the Head of the Greek Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR`s) T.Tsarbopulos; the representatives of the Greek Council for Refugees and the program „ENOUGH” as well as the 20 representatives of non-governmental organizations in Greece; on its own initiative and with the Embassy`s assistance T.Izhevska met with the Bishop of the Greek Catholic Church Dimitris Salach and pastor of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic community Father Lyubomyr (Datsiv) and the Secretary General of the Greek Church of evangelists D.Bukis.
The complex of issues of the mandate of the Personal Representative T.Izhevska, in particular protection of the rights of the Christian religion, discrimination, combating racism and xenophobia was broken before the representatives of the Greek government during the meetings on September 18.
The issues of the status of the ChristianChurches in Greece, including the Catholic and the Greek-CatholicChurches, which is uncertain for decades, were discussed with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Religious of the Hellinic Republic Mr. H.Kalatzis. Greek Side informed about the preparation of the bill, which will give for the first time a special legal status to the Catholic, Armenian, Coptic and others Churches of Greece.
At the request of the Greek Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR's) Ambassador T.Izhevska was interviewed on the subjects of her mandate.
During the exchange of views of the Ambassador Tetiana Izhevska with Greek officials, Greek Side showed support for the European integration of Ukraine and Sign an Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
