The financing of the teaching of Ukrainian language in the Slavic Studies Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens has been secured by the Embassy of Ukraine to the HellenicRepublic in collaboration with the Greek-Ukrainian Chamber.

Particularly, taking into account the difficult economic situation in Greece, which led to a reduction of funding the Greek higher education, including the funding of language`s teaching in the Department of Slavonic Studies, Ambassador of Ukraine H.E. Mr. Volodymyr Shkurov asked the Greek-Ukrainian Chamber to support Ukrainian Studies of the National University of Athens. The First Vice-President of the Greek-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce Mr. Herasimos-Nikolaos Bougas, who kindly replied for the request and  has fully funded teaching the Ukrainian language in the Department of Slavic Studies in the running academic year.

In this regard, the Embassy of Ukraine received the letter of the Head of the department of the Slavic Studies Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Prof. Mr. Fotis Dimitrakopoulos, in which on behalf of the Department`s teaching staff and students expressed sincere gratitude to the Ambassador of Ukraine for the ensuring the language`s teaching in the Slavic Studies Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens during the 2013 – 2014 academic year.
