On June 11, 2014 at the Embassy of Ukraine in Athens Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic H.E. Mr. Volodymyr Shkurov has met with the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Folk Festival, Head of the Greek Cultural and Educational Association `Iones` Mr. Asimakis Stavropulos.

During the meeting, Ambassador of Ukraine and the Head of the Festival Organizing Committee discussed the possibility of a wide representation of Ukrainian folk art on the thematic cultural events taking place in Greece, and in particular, the issues of participation in this year's anniversary festival in Egion the Academic Theater of Ukrainian music, song and dance `Zoriany` of the Kirovogral Regional Philharmonic.

International Folk Festival was founded by the Greek Cultural and Educational Association `Iones` in 2004 in Egion (Peloponnese) under the auspices of the International Organization of Folk Art `Iov` (a non-governmental organization which has consultative status with UNESCO) and is held annually in late July - early August with the participation of folk dance groups from around the world.
