On April 2, 2011, within the framework of the celebration in 2011 of the 1,000 year anniversary of the founding of the St. Sophia cathedral, whose history is an integral part of the history of Ukraine, a joint open subject lesson devoted to this outstanding event was conducted in the Ukrainian Sunday school associated with the Association of the Ukrainian Diaspora in Greece,  «Ukrainian - Hellenic Thought».

The lesson, which was held with the participation of Ukrainian diplomats, familiarized the schoolchildren with the history of the founding and development of the cathedral and its complex, its architecture and murals. Also, a documentary film about the St. Sophia cathedral was shown to the audience. Materials for the lesson were provided to the school by the Ukrainian Embassy.
