On March 3, 2011, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Volodymyr Shkurov, met with the Pro-rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Mr. Theodoros Liakakos.

In the course of their meeting the current state of Ukrainian-Greek dialogue in the area of education and prospect of intensification of the bilateral cooperation among universities and research centers of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens were discussed.

They agreed on the advisability and availability of the required potential for the intensification of the interuniversity cooperation, inter alia, as concerns the teaching of Ukrainian language in the Department of Slavic Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, widening of the educational collaboration via exchanges of lecturers, students as well as experts in library science, archival and museum activities, translation and publication by parties of Ukrainian an Greek literature, holding international conferences.
