On February 5, 2015 the culture event "Living Traditions of Ukraine" and the opening ceremony of the exhibition of works of Ukrainian arts and craft art "The Color of traditions" were held at the Embassy of Ukraine in Greece.
The organizers of this event were the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO, Embassy of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic, Charity Fund `Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra`, Charity Fund `Authentic of Hutsulshyna`, Petrykivsky District council and Petrykivsky District State Administration.
In the framework of the event the numerous guests – representatives of the diplomatic corps, cultural and art circles, mass-media and Ukrainian community in Greece – were introduced with the bright traditions of the Ukrainian folk art – Petrikivka decorative painting and Kosiv painted ceramics. One of these traditions - namely Petrikivska, in 2013 was included by UNESCO to the Representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
From the beginning of the event was delivered the Greeting from the Chairman of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine S.Kyslytsya.
Opening the event, Ambassador of Ukraine Volodymyr Shkurov emphasized the great importance of cultural and spiritual heritage of Ukraine, cultural and historical affinity of Ukrainian and Greek people and the need to maintain continuity for future generation cultural heritage of its people.
Famous masters of Petrikivka – Valentina Panko and Anastasia Chudnivets as well as ceramic artists from Kosiv - Igor, Christina and Theresa Trots have presented for guests the workshops on Ukrainian folk art.
