On November 14, 2018 the Embassy of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic in cooperation with the members of Ukrainian diaspora, in particular, the Association of the Ukrainian Diaspora in Greece, “Ukrainian - Hellenic Thought”, held the commemorative evening in the center of Athens. 

Representatives of diplomatic corps, governmental, political, business, academic circles as well as mass-media, and Ukrainian community in Greece attended the event.  

In memory of the innocent victims of manmade Great Famine (Holodomor), the participants observed a minute of silence and lit a symbolic candle.

The global action "Light a candle of remembrance!" started on September 1, 2018 with the aim to share the truth around the world about the Holodomor - the most brutal crime of the communist regime against the Ukrainian people in modern history.

It is held daily by the embassies and general consulates of Ukraine in different countries of the world, will last for 85 days and end in Kyiv on November 24.
