Ambassador of Ukraine Sergii Shutenko took part in the First Forum of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, dedicated to a wide range of geopolitical challenges and the economic potential of the region.
During the panel discussion on new energy corridors in the Mediterranean, the key focus was concentrated on the influence of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine on energy security in Europe.
"For nine years of war, Russia has turned the energy sector into a weapon it is using against Europe today. Therefore, the key challenge for our European partners is to diversify energy sources as soon as possible. New energy projects are an important step on the way to reducing the EU's dependence on Russian energy resources. And this is a significant contribution to our common victory over the enemy!" - noted the Ambassador of Ukraine during his speech.
