On August 23, 2013, a solemn ceremony was conducted at the Embassy of Ukraine in the HellenicRepublic in celebration of National Flag Day.

With the performance of the Ukrainian National Anthem the raising of Ukraine`s State Flag has taken place at the territory of the Embassy of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic. During the ceremony  the outstanding significance of the national symbol – the State Flag - for the affirmation of independent statehood of Ukraine, its democratic  development  and consolidation as a full and independent member of the European and world community were emphasized.

Later this day the attendees of the ceremony laid flowers at the bust of the Great Kobzar - Taras Shevchenko at the Ukrainian Diplomatic mission in Athens, as well as at the monument of Taras Shevchenko,  installed in Zografou municipality of the city of Athens.
