On February 9, 2014 the Cultural Center of the Athens Archdiocese „Ruth” hosted the opening ceremony of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve's photo exhibition „Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. Shrine of Ukraine”. The event was held in the framework of the celebration in Greece the Memory Day of the St. Photius and took place under the patronage of the Embassy of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic and the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church.

During the official ceremony guests has been welcomed by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic Mr. Volodymyr Shkurov, CEO of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve Mr. Lyubomyr Mykhaylyna, Metropolitan of Glyfada, Eliniku, Voula, Vuliagmenis and Vari Pavlos, Archimandrite of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Andrew.

 

Representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church conveyed the greetings to the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church on behalf of the Metropolitan of Vyzhgorod and Chernobyl Pavlo and presented the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos II.

Guests enjoyed the wonderful singing of the  children`s choir of the Support and Development Center of the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage "Trembita" as well as the chorus оf the Cathedral of St. Dionysius Ariopagite in Athens.
