On April 5, 2014 the Cultural and Information Center of the Embassy of Ukraine in Athens hospitably opened the doors for the award ceremony of the "Best literary-historical essay on "The Life and Works of Taras Shevchenko". The contest has been conducted by the Embassy of Ukraine in cooperation with the Greek-Ukrainian Commercial and Industrial Chamber among the students of the Ukrainian Sunday schools in Greece in the framework of the celebrations, dedicated to the 200th Anniversary of the birthday of Taras Shevchenko.
Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic H.E. Mr. V.Shkurov and the First Vice-President of the Greek-Ukrainian Commercial and Industrial Chamber Mr. G.-N.Bougas awarded young winners and laureates with the awards and memorable gifts as well as the participants of the contest with the memorable gifts.
In the framework of the event has been performed gala concert program with the participation of the students of Sunday School in Greece of the Diaspora societies "Trembita", "Bereginia", "Ukrainian-Greek Thought" and the kids of the Embassy`s staff.
The teachers and the students of Slavic Studies Department of Athens National University and the representatives of wide society visited Embassy for honoring the Anniversary of the Great Kobzar and congratulating the winners of the contest.
Concluding the event, Ambassador of Ukraine V.Shkurov announced a joint initiative of the Embassy of Ukraine, Greek-Ukrainian Commercial and Industrial Chamber and the National Children's Literature Publishing House "Rainbow" to publish the separate collection of works that took part in the contest "Best literary-historical essay on "The Life and Works of Taras Shevchenko".
