On May 20, 2011, the Political and Security Consultations at the level of heads of departments of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Hellenic Republic were held in Athens. Ukrainian Delegation was headed by the Director General for Political and Security Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Oleksandr Aleksandrovych, and the Greek Side – by the Director General for International Organizations and International Security Ambassador Mr. Eustathios Lozos.
During the consultations the Parties exchanged views on the actual state and prospects of the political dialogue's deepening, development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in conflict prevention and management as well as addressing traditional and new challenges and threats. In particular, the issues of cooperation within the OSCE, modernization of the European Security, combating maritime piracy, and Ukraine-NATO dialogue were discussed. A special attention was paid to cooperation in the framework of the Ukrainian Chairmanship in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (May-November 2011) and in the OSCE (2013).
Both Sides positively assessed the state and prospects of the Ukrainian-Greek cooperation as well as high level of trust and mutual understanding approaching of global and regional issues' resolution.
