The exhibition of the Ukrainian artists`s art works and items of the applied arts `The Cultural Diversity` has been opened on the Island of Aegina.

On June 14, 2014 the Museum of Folk Art of Aegina (Aegina Island) hospitably opened the door for the opening ceremony of the exhibition `The Cultural Diversity`, which represents the  Ukrainian artists`s art works and items of the applied arts of the Ukrainian artists, living in Greece.

The exhibition is held in the framework of the celebration in Greece the 200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko and became possible thanks to the fruitful cooperation of the Embassy of Ukraine to Greece with the Ukrainian-Greek Chamber of Commerce and the Municipality of the Island of Aegina.

The numerous guests have been welcomed by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic H.E. Mr. V.Shkurov, First Vice-President of the Ukrainian-Greek Chamber of Commerce Mr. G.-N.Bougas, acting Mayor of Aegina Mr. T.Sakiotis and newly elected Head of the Municipality of Aegina Mr. D.Murtzis.  Speakers are noted the important role of the Ukrainian-Greek cultural and humanitarian cooperation in the development of the fraternal ties between the Aegina and the Starobeshevo city of the Donetsk region. 

Representatives of the Municipality of Aegina stressed that the new leadership of the Island will make all necessary efforts to further strengthen the existing level of the bilateral cultural and humanitarian ties.

During the evening also was held the graduation ceremony of the artists – participants of the exhibition.

The exhibition exhibits the artworks by the six Ukrainian artists, whose fate for many years connected with Greece. A variety of traditional folk crafts that introduce visitors to the culture and life of Ukrainian, kindly provided by the Secretary of the Ukrainian-Greek Chamber of Commerce Mrs. O.Romanyuk in coordination with the Support and Development Center of the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage "Trembita".

The exhibition will run at the Museum of of Folk Art of Aegina by June, 19, 2014.
