On February 25, 2011, an evening devoted to establishing brotherly relations between the Greek island of Tinos and of the Starobeshiv area of the Donetsk region of Ukraine.
In his welcoming address, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Volodymyr Shkurov, inter alia, underscored the mutual interest of our countries in further widening Ukrainian-Greek relations in which a sizable role is attributed to the interregional cooperation between Greece and Ukraine.
Letters from the Head of the Community Council, Mr. V. Panko, and the Head of the State Administration, Mr. M. Mychailov, both of the Starobeshiv area of Donetsk region, with a proposal to establish cooperation and a brotherly relationship, were forwarded to the Mayor of Tinos, Mr. P. Krontiras, and the President of the Tinos Chamber of Commerce, Mr. A. Tsimekis.
After a performance by a folk dance group from Tinos and screening of a documentary film about the island, attendees of the event were familiarized with the exhibition of the traditional Tinos’ products and its economic and its potential for tourism.
