On October 15, 2014 at the premises of the Cultural and Information Center of the Embassy of Ukraine took place the grand opening ceremony of the art exhibition `Views of Ukraine`. In the event, which was dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko, participated the representatives of the diplomatic corps, accredited in Athens, local authorities, cultural, artistic and business communities, as well as Ukrainian community and the Greek media.
The exhibition presents the works of three prominent Ukrainian artists – Mr. Mikola Kushniruk, Mr. Maryan Luniv and Mrs. Katherina Kudriavtseva, which are depicting scenic views of the different regions of Ukraine in the various artistic manners.
Opening the ceremony, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic H.E. Mr. Volodymyr Shkurov emphasized the unique role of the visual arts in the cultural interaction between different peoples, which is allowing without words to understand each other, introduces the spiritual achievements of other cultures and unites them in eternal pursuit of harmony and beauty.
Ukrainian diplomat also underlined that the Embassy of Ukraine, through the organizing the art exhibition, devoted to the Motherland and the Ukrainian genius Taras Shevchenko, in the difficult for Ukraine time of trial, aimed at strengthening the positive image of Ukraine as a modern European country with ancient cultural and spiritual traditions.
