On March 11, 2015 representative of `Naftogaz` (Ukraine) Mr. Sergiy Oleksiyenko participated at the Athens Energy Forum 2015, which is a kind of international platform for discussion of perspective directions of the European energy sector, innovative approaches, investment projects and ensuring energy security of Europe.

The international significance of the event witnessed the participation in it of  the high representatives of government and business leaders from the US, UK, Russia, the EU Member States and the Middle East. Greek delegation to the Forum for represented by the Minister of Reconstruction of Production, Environment & Energy Mr. Panagiotis Lafazanis.

During the event, participants of the forum among others stressed the need to consolidate efforts to ensure European energy security by the diversifying sources of natural gas, the development of appropriate infrastructure and identify sources of funding.

Special attention was paid to discussion of the Ukrainian-Russian cooperation in the gas sector, Russia`s implementation of the "Turkish Stream" and its alternatives.

In this context, the representative of Ukraine gave the appropriate explanations and comments on financial and technical advantages of the using Ukrainian gas transportation system, and the feasibility of its modernization with the prospect of further integration in the single European grid.

In the framework of the event also was held a range of meetings and negotiations of Ukrainian delegation with the representatives of other countries, as well as consulting, public officials and Greek companies. It was agreed to continue the started dialogue.
