On May 20, 2012, the Embassy of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic hosted members of the Ukrainian community in Greece, including the Association of Ukrainians of Greece, “Ukrainian Land of Storks” and in the Center for the support and promotion of the Ukrainian cultural heritage, “Trembita”, to jointly celebrate Mother’s Day with its countrymen.
In greeting the numerous guests of the Embassy with this beautiful and touching holiday, the Head of the Cultural and Information Center of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission underscored that Mother’s Day is premised on a sincere feeling of deep gratitude and respect for mothers, whose care, warm heart and kindness are for each one of us the manifestations of selflessness and self-sacrifice. He wished all mothers attending the event and their children good health, familial wellbeing, happiness and goodness for many years.
The artistic part of the event began with a recitation of verses devoted to mothers by the young Ukrainians. This was followed by a performance of songs about mothers by the members of the amateur artistic group associated with the Association of Ukrainians of Greece “Ukrainian Land of Storks”.
Each of the verses and songs were met by the audience with sincere applause.
This cultural event evidenced the devotion, particularly of young Ukrainians in Greece, to the tradition of the Ukrainian people of a deeply respectful attitude to mothers, and has become a wonderful holiday gift for representatives of the Ukrainian community in Greece and Ukrainian Embassy staff members.
