On November 3, President of the Hellenic Republic H.E. Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou made a working visit to Ukraine.
The President’s visit started in the cities of the Kyiv region - Borodianka, Bucha and Irpin, where she witnessed the destruction of civil infrastructure caused by russian bombings, as well as the burial places of civilians killed by the russian occupants.
Next was the meeting with President of Ukraine H.E. Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who thanked the President of Greece for the visit, at a time when both Ukrainians and all Europeans are in need of maximum unity and cooperation.
The President of Ukraine informed the interlocutor about the situation at the frontlines and talked about the role of the weapons provided by Greece for the protection of Ukrainians. Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Hellenic Republic for the donation of the BMP-1s to our country.
The presidents of Ukraine and Greece discussed the sanctions policy, in particular the preparation of the ninth package of EU sanctions against Russia, which should give a powerful response to the aggressor for terror.
The leaders of the two states also focused on the problem of the energy threat that the russian federation deliberately created for Ukraine and the whole Europe.
Following the negotiations between the Presidents of Ukraine and Greece, a joint press conference was held, during which the leaders of the states informed about the results of the negotiations and the agreements reached.
Within the framework of the visit the President of Greece also met with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine H.E. Mr. Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The head of the Ukrainian Parliament thanked for the constant support that Greece provides to Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor, especially in the military and humanitarian spheres, and the adoption of the important decisions for Ukraine on its path to European integration, in particular, in granting Ukraine the EU candidate status.
Mr. Stefanchuk conveyed his gratitude to his colleague, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Hellenic Republic Kostas Tasoulos, for his participation in the First Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform and expressed hope for further strengthening of the inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries.
