On July 1, 2011 «The Vision Retained in the Palm» exhibition of paintings by Ukrainian children with impaired vision inaugurated in the Embassy of Ukraine in Athens.

Opening the exhibition, Ambassador of Ukraine in Greece Volodymyr Shkurov stressed the great human importance of such events, which like the 8th Special Olympics World Summer Games Athens 2011 (25 June – 4 July, 2011) revile unlimited human resources and internal potential.

The visually impaired children, whose works formed the exhibition, were fortunately granted by artistic talent and at the same time fatefully bereft of visual perception and subsequently reproduce the world. They perceive the world decoration through their feelings prism. The exhibition provides a possibility to "see" or rather to feel the world by the eyes of the visually impaired children.

During the opening ceremony coincided with the Special Olympics in Athens, a special honour was given to the Ukrainian National Team, which in hole participated in the event.

The opening ceremony was attended by the representatives of the Hellenic Foreign Ministry, diplomatic corps, Ukrainian community and public at large.
