On May 8, 2014, on the day of memory of victims of the World War II, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic V.Shkurov with his wife, the staff of the Embassy of Ukraine in Athens, the leadership of the Greek-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce as well as the representatives of the Ukrainian community in Greece laid flowers at the grave of the Soviet soldier, Mykola Schavel’, at the Athens military cemetery of soldiers of the allied troops of the anti-Hitler Coalition.
During the commemorative event was held a memorial service for the fallen during all wars. The participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims.
During his speech at the event, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hellenic Republic Mr. V.Shkurov paid tribute to all who price their lives to the Great Victory over fascism, but also highlighted the importance of the Great Feats of the representatives of all peoples and nations to our present. First vice-president of the Greek-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce Mr. H.-N. Bougas expressed the worlds of gratitude to the heroes-winners of the World War II.
That day, Embassy`s representatives greeted and presented a bouquet of flowers and token of appreciation to the veteran of the Great Patriotic War and participant in the liberation of Ukraine Mrs. Lidia Zinovieva.
